Stress
Dental Health • October 2, 2017
A common problem among my patients is unconscious teeth clenching and grinding at night due to stress. Unfortunately, most of them are not aware of this, as this unpleasant side effect of this action occurs at night, during the sleep phase.
We are talking about a complex problem, which is often only discovered when the patient already has a dental problem.
If you experience the following symptoms frequently, it is worth visiting your dentist before serious damage to your teeth occurs.
In the majority of cases, teeth grinding or clenching is caused by stress or some kind of mental strain or inner tension, which is of course not a dental problem.
This unpleasant and uncontrollable symptom can sometimes place a load of up to 40kg on our teeth and jaw, putting not only the dentition but also the cervical joints and vertebrae under extreme strain.
